How we are funded

ICDC is able to combine such a unique offering of research, production, training, and business expertise largely because of the way in which we are funded.

There are three principal organisations that contribute to our support - Liverpool John Moores University, the European Union (EU) and the Northwest Regional Development Agency.

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU)

Economic regeneration lies at the heart of LJMU's aims and ambitions, which is why the University is the natural home for ICDC, supporting us to deliver a wide-reaching programme of support for the region's growth sectors.

LJMU also has a range of expertise and applied research knowledge that ICDC is able to draw upon, in developing and growing businesses through new and innovative products and services.

EU - European Regional Development Fund

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) was set up in order to stimulate economic development in the least prosperous regions of the EU. As EU membership has grown, the ERDF has developed into a major instrument for helping to redress regional imbalances.

ERDF, via the Merseyside Objective One Programme, provides ICDC with funding to create new digital technology businesses and to help existing businesses grow. In turn, this leads to growth in Merseyside businesses and more jobs for local people.

Northwest Regional Development Agency

The Northwest Regional Development Agency provides strategic leadership, programmes and funding to ensure the sustainable economic development and the regeneration of England's Northwest.

The NWDA provides ICDC with funds to provide training and events to help people from across the North West to develop their skills in digital technologies, building a sustainable workforce which can meet the needs of the growing digital industries sector.
