Latest i-start event - 'Producing for Sony'

This latest i-start networking event's big draw was guest speaker, Dave Crook. Dave spent 12 years at Sony Computer Entertainment, most recently as the head of the CSG (Creative Services Group), responsible for the overseeing and development of the support needs of the Studio Development teams. Dave currently works as a Freelance Creative Design & Development Consultant.

During the course of his informal presentation, Dave shared his experience on team working and managing customer expectations; peppered with some personal "highs and lows" which he has encountered over the years.

Dave, prompted by audience questions, was able to offer advice and guidance for up and coming designers on how to secure employment or work as a Freelancer for market giants such as Sony.

Among the excellent turnout we had a welcomed high percentage of LJMU students who managed to corner Dave after the event to interrogate him on a 1-2-1 basis.

This ICDC i-start event was held as part of their Interactive Media and Games Service for the Learning and Skills Council. This project helps small companies identify the skills and support services needed to work with large companies such as the BBC and Sony.

Dave has spent 17 years in design and development. 14 years of that in games development and the last 12 years of that at Sony Computer Entertainment. Most recently as the head of the CSG (Creative Services Group), responsible for the overseeing and development of the support needs of the Studio Development teams. Recently, Dave has moved from Sony Studio Liverpool to pursue other avenues of Games Development and related industries as a Creative Design & Development Consultant.
