i-start: Investing in the future of Merseyside

This week's i-start focused on how start-up enterprises gain funding to finance their dreams into reality. Malcolm Stewart, installed as the new Managing Director of Liverpool Ventures Limited last year, outlined the main sources of finance available to aspiring young businesses. After detailing the number of ways in which entrepreneurs access start-up funds Malcolm went on to describe the activities of Liverpool Ventures. This was established to help Merseyside start-ups access the 27m Liverpool Seed Fund, through the proof of concept, commercialisation and 1st stage venture capital funds. He spoke for a half hour to a packed room before taking questions at the new venue for i-start - the fashionable Newz Bar on Water Street in the city centre.

Malcolm commented: "The i-start event is a great platform for budding entrepreneurs to meet with experienced business owners and support agencies to share experiences and help them realise their business ambitions."
