Support for new qualification
01-Sept-2006

ICDC's Content Specialist in e-Learning, Jim Turner has been working with the North West Learning Grid (NWLG) to help them create suitable learning resources for the new DiDA qualification. DiDA replaces the old ICT GCSE and aims to teach secondary students how to use new media tools.

Working closely with Splinter - an award-winning design studio based in ICDCs business incubator, Jim created two dummy projects and recorded the design process and technologies Splinter used to complete the projects. These recordings have been included in the NWLG's DVD resources to support the new curriculum and distributed to 2,770 schools and colleges, as well as many Local Authorities and DfES members; they are used as video resources to help secondary school children interested in ICT understand the complex world of new media business and design.
