Success for Pacificstream Information with help from ICDC

Pacificstream Information, based in Digitalinc - ICDC's business incubator at Liverpool Digital, has been successful in obtaining a substantial award under the Leonardo Pilot Project initiative.

The submission developed with the help of ICDC, is one of only 27 successful projects in the UK, from 130 submitted to the EU and will begin in October 2006.

This two-year project is worth approximately half a million euros and includes 12 partners from 8 countries across Europe comprising of universities, associates from city councils and SMEs specialising in design and sector specialists, such as Splinter Design Ltd - who are also based within Digitalinc.

The project will develop guidance and support material for start-up companies in the Creative Industries by developing the latent entrepreneurial talent found in art and design creatives. Much of the focus of entrepreneurship training to date has been on science, engineering and technology where it had been assumed that the greatest potential for economic gains lies. However, it is now recognised that the creative industries can contribute as much, if not more, to the economic growth in a region.

The objectives of the project are to exploit an innovative ICT approach to targeted creative industries, business training and development based upon virtual business incubation.
